Under Secretary of Defense Memo on Commercial Items

Back in September 2016, this memo was published explaining how Commercial Item Determinations will be reviewed in the future.  This is an area that desperately needs attention, so this is a positive development as far as we’re concerned.  Deserving special note:

• Emphasis on acknowledgement of “timely and consistent commercial item determinations”
• Notion of advance agreements on commerciality may be persued
• Encouragement that once an item is commercial, it’s best off left that way.
